Your safari begins the moment you touch down in the Eastern Cape. Most guests fly into Port Elizabeth Airport, where the Wenlock team will personally collect you for the scenic three‑hour drive to the farm. For guests preferring a faster or more private arrival, charter flights can be arranged directly onto the property from Cape Town or Johannesburg — simply contact us for options and pricing.
If you’re bringing your own rifle, we’ll assist with the temporary import permit process well in advance to ensure everything is smooth on arrival. Guests are also welcome to use one of our rental rifles, with ammunition available on site.
From the moment you arrive, your Professional Hunter and the Wenlock team take care of every detail — transport, gear checks, orientation, and settling you comfortably into the lodge before the hunt begins.
Getting Here
Travelling to Wenlock Safaris is straightforward, and we’re here to help with every step.
International Flights:
We recommend booking through a reputable travel agent for the most reliable routing into South Africa.
Domestic Travel:
Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) is our primary pickup point.
Charter Options:
Private charters can land directly on the farm — ideal for groups or guests wanting a seamless arrival.
Travel Insurance:
Optional, but recommended for peace of mind.
Climate:
The Eastern Cape offers moderate, comfortable hunting conditions year‑round.
Early season (Mar–Apr): 65°F–90°F
Mid-season (May–Aug): 45°F–85°F (mornings may drop to freezing)
Late season (Sep–Oct): 65°F–100°F
No compulsory vaccinations are required, and the region is malaria‑free.
What to Bring
Your gear doesn’t need to be complicated — just practical, comfortable, and suited to the terrain.
Hunting Essentials

- Worn‑in boots suitable for rocky terrain
- Comfortable shoes for around the lodge
- Camouflage is allowed; olive and khaki are recommended but not required

Timing & Check‑In
Your safari schedule is designed around comfort, clarity, and a smooth start to your hunt.
Check‑in:
Upon arrival at the lodge, you’ll meet your PH, settle into your room, and enjoy a relaxed orientation.
Gear Check:
Rifles are sighted, equipment is reviewed, and any final adjustments are made before heading into the veld.
Daily Rhythm:
Early mornings begin with coffee and a light breakfast before departing for the day’s hunt. Evenings return you to the lodge for warm hospitality, good food, and time to unwind.
Water & Connectivity:
Lodge water is safe for drinking, and bottled water is available. Full Wi‑Fi and reliable cell reception are provided at the lodge.
Currency:
South African Rand (R) is used locally, though most stores accept international credit cards.
